Attention all card-makers! now www.twistedsketches.com has started a new weekly sketch for cards…with a “twist.” The Design Team for this new twisted sketches venture was revealed last weekend…and since I love to make cards, I decided to play along… you can find the original sketch, as well as all the amazing creations of the new Twisted Sisters here… http://www.twistedsketches.com/2010/03/welcome-the-twisted-cards-team.html . Here is my take on this sketch:
The twist was transparent…so I in a pinch, I used a sheet of one of my Plaid brand “Simply Stencil” sheets…just cut off the top with the words on it…used my bone folder to make a sharp crease to fold the card.
I used a make-up sponge to apply FolkArt brand acrylic paint in Calypso Sky and Jamaican Sea colors around the edges. I cut and glued in a sheet of new Graphic 45’s new Le Romantique paper to the inside. Adhered some of Michael’s clear patterned packing tape (this only cost me $1.00) to the front and back of the card (transparent twist) -this stuff is awesome:
I then layered som of Webster’s Pages new “Bloomers” trim (gorgeous!), made a tulle flower by folding the tulle several times, tying it in the middle then cutting it….I glued down one of K & Co’s Serendipity brads (after cutting the brad clasps off with my button shanker!) I then glued the flower down with Liquid Nails clear glue adhesive so that it wouldn’t show much….I must say that this Stencil paper is very heavy duty and much more forgiving than the absolute clear acrylic sheets…it is a lot like vellum. Used Thickers cardstock “Delight” alphabet stickers…took a pen to the letters to give a faux stitched appearance (just didn’t feel the need to actually sew this time, go figure!)
