Just About The Details

life on pretty paper

“She Art” Workshop by Christy Tomlinson

Well, back in late February I signed up for this on-line mixed media course given by Christy Tomlinson…called….the She Art Workshop.  I have finally finished my first week (yes, I’m a bit behind…but I had a lot of other important stuff to do 🙂 and I finished my first project.   My “She Art” is really “He Art” – I decided that since my cousin’s kiddo’s b-day was coming up I might as well make my first project for him.  Here it is:

The only canvas I had on hand to start with was 16 x 20…I used some old Boy’s Life magazines from March 1958 that I bought at an estate sale awhile bck.  I used loads of acrylic paints, stamps, bubble wrap, shelf liner, rub-ons, staz-on black ink, and scraps of paper from mostly old Scarlet Lime kits.  I had so much fun with this, and have already finished the initial background for my second (much smaller) project.   I initially hesitated in signing up for this on-line class…but once I watched the free tutorial on Christy Tomlinson’s blog, I was sold, hook, line, & sinker….and oh, am I ever glad that I did.   I am so impressed, inspired, and AMAZED by this class.  and for just a little 411…she is holding a contest for a spot in the next round of this class beginning in April, right now on her blog…just click HERE for full details.

Here are some up-close photos:

I have thoroughly enjoyed everything about this course thus far….and I am eagerly awaiting the future classes…and getting all caught up.  TFL!

I am beyond excited to say that this gorgeous masterpiece now resides in my home! I know it is intended to hang in Jack’s room, but I might just have to put it in mine! The textures, the patterns, the colors, the techniques are beyond amazing. I thank you dearly (I mean Jack thanks you dearly) for the most perfect gift EVER!
