Home Sweet Home – Twisted Sketch #64 with the TREE twist

The latest sketch is now live over at www.twistedsketches.com, a sketch challenge site that provides a sketch to get you started and a “twist” to get you thinking and creative.  To see the sketch click HERE.

I think it is rather obvious how I interpreted the “twist” here.  This is our house.  We have looked at hundreds of houses…and we actually love to go to open houses still.  Daniel and I both agree we have yet to see a house more perfect for us.  This house has everything we could ever want or need.  Daniel has his “Man-Cave” and media-room upstairs, and I have my own little slice of heaven in my Scrap Room.  Not that I didn’t love our first house.  But 2 kids later, we found we had outgrown that space beyond measure.  We toured this house during a Festival of Homes shortly after it was built and fell in love…but at that time it was more than we needed or could manage.  But we still compared EVERY house we ever toured to this house.  When it came up for sale again it was a dream come true!

The tree here was actually cut out of a 2010 calendar byStudio 18.  I paper pierced holes around the tree’s trunk and branches to embroider an outline around them.  I also color-copied the tree so that I could cut out and layer the flowers and bird using 3-D foam dots for some dimension.

Supplies used here also include:  Bazzill Cardstock; Serendipity paper from K & Co.; Tombo permanent adhesive; buttons from my stash; Stitched rub-on border from Cloud 9 Design; “Sweet” rub-on from My Mind’s Eye; “home” rub-on letters in red from Anna Griffin’s Sloan collection; “home” sticker letters from LYB;  butterfly die-cuts and photo corner from K & Co; flower rub-ons from Minimarks-American Crafts; brown embroidery floss from Janlynn; and 3-D foam dots from EK Success.  TFL!
