Here Comes….Peter Cottontail – Twisted Sketch #57 with the “Sunshine” twist!
Sketch #57 is now live over at www.twistedsketches.com ! The twist to this sketch was “SUNSHINE,” any how or any way that inspires you to create! Please come over and check out this sketch and play along. Be sure and post a link to your layout under the sketch’s comment section! I’d love to see your interpretation!
I did a lot of fun techniques on this one. I used yellow tissue paper to layer the sun & used some pipe cleaners for the sun’s rays. I used my Martha Stewart “branch” punches to make a ton of little grass blades – This was actually easier than it looks. I punched the little ”branch”es out of different colored green pieces of scrap paper…then, put down a strip of Tombow adhesive and layered all of the punched “grass” down alternating shades of my green paper scraps to give it some more dimension… It really looks awesome in real life. I, then, layered some of my stamped Easter eggs into the dimensional “grass.”
Here is a little tip on using stickers for your layout titles….If you run out of a certain letter, and the stickers that you are using have a “bleed-over” off the edge of the pealed sticker, you can use an exacto knife to use the negative aspect of the sticker. If that doesn’t make sense, then see the photos below for a visual explanation.
Here are a few up-close photos of my layered tissue paper sun:
Other supplies used here and not already mentioned include: 12×12 Kraft Chipboard from Scrapbook.com; fabric heart brad at top left corner from Paper Studio; flourish & bird from Basic Grey’s Lime Rickey; Sassafras Lass: little cloud w/the owl (I cut this out of an insert I got in one of my scrapbooking magazines); Close to My Heart acrylic Easter Egg stamp; 3D Zot Dots; Janlynn embroidery floss; Colorbox’s Rouge chalk ink; and trim, buttons, and title stickers all from my stash…unknown brands.
I made the little journaling cloud free-hand onto a piece of white cardstock. Journaling says: “Easter 2005 – I’m sorry for always dressing you up in silly outfits – but look at you – how could I resist?! Easter Sunday – family picnic at Andrews Park – Saylor, 6 months old”
I extended the clouds from my beloved American Craft’s “HOWDY” paper and stitched in their shape with embroidery floss.
