“She Art” Workshop by Christy Tomlinson

Well, back in late February I signed up for this on-line mixed media course given by Christy Tomlinson…called….the She Art Workshop.¬† I have finally finished my first week (yes, I’m a bit behind…but I had a lot of other important stuff to do ūüôā and I finished my first project.¬†¬† My “She Art” is really “He Art” – I decided that since my cousin’s kiddo’s b-day was coming up I might as well make my first project for him.¬† Here it is:

The only canvas I had on hand to start with was 16 x 20…I used some old Boy’s Life magazines from March 1958 that I bought at an estate sale awhile bck.¬† I used loads of acrylic paints, stamps, bubble wrap, shelf liner, rub-ons, staz-on black ink, and scraps of paper from mostly old Scarlet Lime kits.¬† I had so much fun with this, and have already finished the initial background for my second (much smaller) project.¬†¬† I initially hesitated in signing up for this on-line class…but once I watched the free tutorial on Christy Tomlinson’s blog, I was sold, hook, line, & sinker….and oh, am I ever glad that I did.¬†¬† I am so impressed, inspired, and AMAZED by this class.¬† and for just a little 411…she is holding a contest for a spot in the next round of this class beginning in April, right now on her blog…just click HERE¬†for full details.

Here are some up-close photos:

I have thoroughly enjoyed everything about this course thus far….and I am eagerly awaiting the future classes…and getting all caught up.¬† TFL!

Curls – Twisted Sketch #90 & Scraps of Darkness store!

The latest sketch is live over at www.twistedsketches.com. The “twist” for this week’s sketch was “FRAME” , any how or any way that word inspires you to create!¬†Here is my interpretation:

¬†This is my first¬†attempt at the Steampunk style…all of the paper and embellies, except the Prima bling and title letters (October Afternoon) were from the Scraps of Darkness shoppe!¬†(Graphic 45 paper, Tim Holtz gears) ¬†They have the coolest stuff over there so be sure and check it out!

I turned the sketch a quarter turn…did a lot of fussy-cutting with the FABULOUS “Steampunk Debutante” paper from Graphic 45…..”framing” the page and the photo.

Here are some up-close photos:

Thanks for looking my friends!!!
