Ahoy – Twisted Sketch #94

The latest fab sketch is live over at www.twistedsketches.com – the “twist” for this week’s sketch was GLITTER, any how or any how that inspires you to create.  To see the sketch, click HERE. Here is my interpretation of this amazing sketch:

The paper I used here was from my March “Vintage Revelry” kit from www.scrapsofdarkness.com ! other supplies from my stash, include glitter flourishes from Making Memories (colored with Aqua with one of my Bic Mark-It permanent markers), Pink Paislee alphas…I also cut up some of the punctuation to make the center of my “mosaic” sun; I made the sun using one of my smaller stencils from the Crafter’s Workshop;  I used one of my fave Tim Holtz stencils, as well as a flourish from BoBunny’s timepiece collection for masks for my background misting.  The incredible misting products were from this month’s amazing, and I mean amazing misters included in this month’s “COLOR ADD-ON” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com – the mists included in this add-on were over the top fantastic and my all-time FAVES now!!! I did some doodling and outlining with my Pilot pen, the little alphas are from October Afternoon, and the blue curly border strip is from Bazzill’s Just the Edge!…and voila! there you have it! Hope you like it 🙂

This is a photo of Uncle Mike on board the Tole Mour…THE tallest schooner on the West coast!

My Dad Could Have Been a Movie Star – Twisted Sketch #92 and Scraps of Darkness “Vintage Revelry” March Kit

Twisted Sketch #92 is now live over at www.twistedsketches.com ! The “twist” for this sketch was BRADS…any how or any way that inspires you to creat! Here is my interpretion of the sketch:

Basically, I turned the sketch OVER.  I used some small red brads from CTMH and some star brads that I bought from Oriental Trading Co ages ago.  I have no idea who the manufacturer is for  the brad/charm holding the tag.

I used my March kit “Vintage Revelry” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com to make this layout! Lots of awesome Graphic 45 paper in this kit….I used one of the G45 die-cut negative space sheets for the brackground….some of the amazing mists that came in the Color Add-on for this kit and a Tim Holtz mask…red staples are from office supply & title letters are Thickers.

Love this photo of my dad. Wasn’t he handsome? Unfortunately it’s impossible to tell…but he was also blessed with beautiful blue eyes….which both of my sisters inherited (I got my mom’s green eyes.)

Here are some up-close photos:

I would love for you to stop over and play along with Twisted Sketches….be sure and up-load a direct link to your amazing creation under the comment section for Twisted Sketch #92 so that I can see your brilliant interpretation!!!!

When Pappy Was a Baby – Vintage Revelry Scraps of Darkness March kit

Another layout I created with this magnificent March kit “Vintage Revelry” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com ! Have I mentioned that I LOVE this kit! I found it very fun, versatile, and a little out of my comfort zone to create with…and I am thrilled with my results and hope you are too! 🙂

I think this is my favorite layout that I created with this amazing kit.  I love how this photo and my design worked with the background paper….love the birdcage….LOVE how my flowers turned out.  I used all of the patterns of the Paper Loft collection included in this kit to make these flowers….I actually decoupaged the paper onto the leaves of some Prima flowers….and I really LOVE how easy it was and I love the end result.  I used my glue gun to adhere the flowers to the page (I like my embellishments to stay put!) 🙂  I know it may look like a simple page design…but a lot of time and love went into this.  Love this photo of my dad when he was a baby….it’s striking how much he looks like my nephew Lucas….but I also see my own kids in this baby face.  I did some subtle masking/misting on the background paper which I feel adds to the beauty of the paper without overwhelming it.  What do you think? I love your feedback and comments!

Here are some up-close photos:

TFL!  This is the last layout I will be posting tonight…but I have 2 more layouts to share in the coming days….tomorrow I will be sharing my Twisted Sketch #92 and Sunday another layout using this amazing kit!!!so stay tuned!!!!

My Beautiful Grandma – “Vintage Revelry” March Kit from Scraps of Darkness

Another layout, done on Prima’s new Mist-able canvas, from the Color Add-on kit for March at www.scrapsofdarkness.com.  The mists in this add-on were absolutely exquisite!!!

This is a photo of my beautiful paternal Grandma!  Isn’t she such a beauty?!

The flowers are from Prima, the alpha letters are October Afternoon, I made the masks out of some of my old Little Yellow Bicycle borders, and the Rub-ons are from K & Co…I think Que Sera line.

After I masked and misted the canvas … I was so taken by the beauty and richness of the color, I just didn’t “need” to clutter this up. I thought it was already perfect…to me.

The fabulous mists in this collection can be found here as the Color Add-on is SOLD OUT! : http://www.lindystampgang.com/inco.html  You are going to want to check these out!

I also used some teal colored acrylic paint around the edges of the canvas to give some definition….and misted all of the flowers to bring out the rich color.

I highly recommend these Prima Canvases….they take mists and color amazingly well.  love it!  and just a note…I turned my canvas upside down to better highlight and frame my photo. 🙂

TFL my friends!!!

Song Bird – Scraps of Darkness “Vintage Revelry” March Kit

Here is thefirst  layout I created using the amazing Scraps of Darkness “Vintage Revelry” kit &  sketch that Charlotte made exclusively for this kit.

Sing Like No One Is Around….journalling at the top of this layout says: “A blue velvet dress…one high-heeled shoe…singin’ at the top of my lungs.” – a photo of myself when I was around 4or 5 years old.

I made the large bird using a Tattered Angel mask…I traced it onto a piece of recycled plastic from one of my kiddos toys (from the box a toy comes in)….colored in the stencil areas with a black sharpie marker and painted a light coat of acrylic paint on the back…easy peasy…and I LOVE how it turned out.  Used almost all of the metal flowers included in this kit…they are gorgeous!   I raided my own stash for the Prima flower/lace trim and felt border,Tim Holtz grungeboard flourishes, and October Afternoon small type stickers.

Here are some up-close photos:

Magnetic Perpetual Calendar

I wanted to quickly share the magnetic/perpetual calendar that I made for my kindergartener’s school carnival’s silent auction.

I used a magnetic/dry erase board that I got on clearance at Walmart….the calendar paper I bought at my local scrapbook store, used some hot pink Zva crystal bling, and  BoBunny rub-ons….I made all of the “month’s” with a special anniversary scrabble game…love those black/silver tiles.  Here are some up-close photos of the odds-and-ends I used to make my numbers:
