What makes this site special is that along with the sketch you are given a “twist,” something to get you thinking outside of the box. The “twist” for this week’s layout sketch was soft, any how or any way that inspires you to create. I would love for you to come over and play along. Be sure and leave a direct link to your creation under the “comment” section of the layout # you are playing along with….I cannot wait to see your creations.
Here is my interpretation:
I used some of the gorgeous paper from Graphic 45 and Webster’s Pages, border punch from EK Success, Thickers alphabet stickers; Prima bling, and the lush foam roses (yes, they are made out of foam) are from Michaels…I scored them for 25 cents in their clearance section.
Here are some up-close photos:
Come join in on the fun!!!! TFL my friends! I really appreciate you!
Here is the 5th layout I have created using the February “TellTale Heat” kit from www.scrapsofdarkness.com ! I also made this for Suepup’s DarkLoveStory Valentine’s Challenge over at www.scrapbook.com.
I chose Mark Antony & Cleopatra’s tragic love affair for this challenge. They met in 41 B.c. … Cleopatra, an Egyptian Queen, seduced Mark Antony, a powerful (and married) Roman general, into tumultuous love affair & alliance between their territories. Octovian, the future emperor, convinced the Roman Empire that Antony was bewitched by Cleopatra and declared war in 31 B.C. To avoid capture, Antony & Cleopatra committed suicide.
This is a photo of a painting of Antony & Cleopatra done by Lawrence Alm-Tadema in 1885.
I hand-stitched the harlequin background on the entire page…accented the diamonds with sequins that I individually glued down. I painted the flowers to co0rdinate with the page using my newest favorite paint Glam from Tattered Angels in Stiletto and Be Positive….it is mixed with glitter…it’s not opaque and not completely sheer….and I LOVE IT! The scalloped edges are tied with silk ribbon. Some of the flourishes & key were made with CTMH stamps and Technique Tuesday chipboard pieces….colored in by a black permanent Sharpie marker. I used the same Glam paint on the Rainboot’s American Crafts Thickers in the title.
I used Tim Holtz’s crackle paint in Rock Candy on the photo…and it is impossible to see on the larger photo….Here are some up-close detailed photos:
Tell me that stuff isn’t AWESOME!
We would love for you to come over and check out this awesome site… www.scrapsofdarkness.com ! TFL my friends!
Here is the 4th layout I have made using the EXQUISITE February Kit “TellTale Heart” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com. I made this for Lisa Novogrodski’s “Skeletons in the Closet” challenge over at the Scraps of Darkness site , with the challenge of using the word prompt of DRAMA.
I had a hard time photographing this…but check out the up-close photos to give you a better view of the details.
I made the background by handcutting a harlequin pattern…distressing…adhering the individual pieces and then using 2 different colors of Glam glitter paint (included with this month’s Color Add-on at www.scrapsofdarkness.com .) AND I LOVE this paint!!!! It really is a must-try, must-have.
for complete list of the amazing products included in this months “TellTale Heart” kit please check out www.scrapsofdarkness.com ! Oh, and the swirlies…they were made out of “As Seen On TV” BENDAROOS …
I included journaling for this on the back and reads: Sisters – isn’t there ALWAYS DRAMA when you have sisters. We have been sworn enemies, and best friends. We’ve laughed uncontrollably, confided in each other, been each other’s “alibi”, beat the crap out of each other – well, you did give me 2 black eyes – threatened, black-mailed, disowned, protected & fought for, conspired with, helped each other through REALLY bad times, shared in REALLY good times…No one knows me like you do Baby Sister…even with the DRAMA, we’re lucky we have sisters.

Here is the 3rd layout I have created using the the February Kit, “TellTale Heart“, from www.scrapsofdarkness.com . I also made this for Celina’s “Darker Side” challenge for February over at Scrapbook.com . This is the very first challenge I have ever entered over there! and I’m excited.
for complete details on all of the gorgeous contents of this kit, please visit Scraps of Darkness. Other products here include a gorgeous acrylic heart stamp from Heidi Swapp, some tiny black pearl accents from Prima, and the “I Miss You” font from my stash.
This is a photo of my grandma and grandpa on my mother’s side. They were both so young in this photo. I miss them both so much…The journaling on the heart on the top right corner says, “You can mend a heart but it’s never whole.” – that ‘s why I cut 2 puzzle pieces out of the large heart and tore the heart down the middle stitching it back up…I backed the puzzle piece holes with some open mesh.
Here are some up-close photos:
Guess I had a lot of details to share! TFL my friends! I really appreciate each and every one of you! Happy Sunday!
Here is the 2nd layout I have made using the gorgeous February kit “The TellTale Heart” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com . I really haven’t scrapped that many photos of Daniel and I, so I really thought this kit was PERFECT to scrap some of my favorite photos of us together through the years. This sketch was also inspired by one of Charlotte Jenkins’ (aka Suepup) amazing “SKETCH E” that she created a little over 2 years ago. And did I happen to mention…Charlotte is Scraps of Darkness’s SKETCH ARTIST! Woo Hoo! I adore her work!
Here is a photo of Daniel and I at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California. I dearly LOVE that city!
The circles around the circle were made by punching out dozens of little circles with one of my larger hole punches and painstakingly applying them using Zip Dry glue. Don’t you just love that Teresa Collin’s Fleur-de-lis blinkage?! I made the flowers with several different sizes of Retro Flower punches from EK Success, then roughed up the edges a little with some decorative edge scissors…the little brown flower centers are actually wood furniture buttons I got at Hobby Lobby…I liked the look of the natural wood so I didn’t alter them. The very bottom strip of paper was done using some Chalk Ink and Prima masks (masks are included in the Color Add-on that you can order along with this Main kit.)
The flourishes were made by hand-drawing and cutting with my handy dandy X-acto knife out of plain black Cardstock.
Here are a few up-close detailed photos:
Well…this is all I have to share at the moment…I already have another page in progess, so stay tuned
Here is the first layout I created using the February kit “The TellTale Heart” from www.scrapsofdarkness.com. I created this using the exclusive SKETCH made by the amazing Charlotte Jenkins AKA Suepup.
Here is Daniel and I on the Gondola Ride at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. This was our last trip to Vegas before we started having kiddos….oh, the good ole’ days
I did a lot of layering, distressing, inking, hand-stitching, and clustering on this. The papers here include Teresa Collins’ Noel, some Echo Park, the very last piece of paper from my Jan kit (Pink Paislee), & Kaisercraft. I did a few V-day stickers I got 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby. I misted the flowers with red Smooch mist to “red” them up a bit. I copied and included the tickets to the actual Gondola Ride and stapled them underneath the photo. This kit does NOT disappoint.
Here are a few up-close detailed photos:
And just a little tip to gluing down bulkier embellishments: hot glue!
