TFL my friends!!! Hope you and your families have a WONDERFUL weekend!!!
Today is Wednesday! and that means another sketch goes live over at www.twistedsketches.com ! The “twist” for this week’s sketch is FRESH…any how or any way that inspires you to create! Be sure and come on over and play along…leave a link to your creation under the sketch #86 under the comments section at Twisted Sketches! I cannot wait to see what you create!
Here is my interpretation:
Here is my sweet baby taking a bath in the sink…oh, how I miss the easiness of those days…at least easier on my back LOL! I used my Scraps of Darkness Winter Magic kit for the majority of this layout….the metal pin was bought at an estate sale…the tiny white flowers and stems were bought at a yard sale, the title letters(little tags and white foam) have been in my stash so long I am unable to identify them- the others are from PRIMA. I used bathroom caulk and a wall-paper border for my flourish…a tutorial for this can be found at the Scraps of Darkness website HERE. I used Dermacoat acrylic paint in black around the edges…I just couldn’t leave the white alone. This is my first time at a monochromatic layout. I used my Distrezz-It-All to distress the edges of just about all of the paper used here….that thing is ROCKIN’ AMAZING!!!!
I was inspired to use all of the white paper because when I saw this picture…and when I thought about the “fresh” twist…I also envisioned soft, white, “fresh” baby powder, hence the inspiration of this twist!
To see all of the amazing products available in this Scraps of Darkness kit, click HERE. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the “shoppe“- there is a lot of amazing stuff in there…trust me, I’ve almost bought it/or plan on buying it all.
TFL my friends! I cannot tell you how very much I appreciate you and your feedback!
Addendum: OOps! I forgot my up-close photos!
I am delighted to say that I have been chosen for another term on the Design Team at www.twistedsketches.com ! The weekly sketch challenge site that provides you with a sketch, then stirs it up with a “twist”. If you haven’t checked this site out, you are really missing out on a super fun & amazing site! The site is run by none other than the uber-talented Anam Stubbington (designer for My Minds’ Eye, sketch artist for Prima’s Monthly Build-a-page sketch, and the brain-child of the unique and amazing I-Phone/I-Pad app Sketches 2 Scrapbook, to name only a few of her accomplishments.) To check out the great new Design Team click HERE. We would love for you to come over and play along….a new layout sketch, with a TWIST, is revealed every Wednesday…and a new card sketch, with a TWIST, every Saturday.
Here is the final layout I made using Scraps of Darkness January “Winter Magic” kit.
Here is my little cutie pie when he was about 6 months old….looks scared to death huh? poor little guy! Love this photo!
I used Doodlebug Design alpha stickers for the title….put them down, painted over them, then pealed them up. Love the look of this technique.
Here are some other photos:
TFL everyone! and be sure and check out Scraps of Darkness’s latest awesome kit!
Here is a wall hanging that I made using scalloped cardboard cake plates that I got at Walmart in various sizes…I covered them with the beautiful patterned paper in the amazing “Winter Magic” kit at Scraps of Darkness.
This “icing” technique here was done using household bathroom caulk! A full tutorial on this will be posted over at Scraps of Darkness this up-coming week and will be found under this link when it is posted.
Here are some up-close photos:
This lush decorative hat pin comes in the kit and is hand-made by Craftysprinkles aka Mandy.
I accented the CAULK with pink Perfect Pearls.
Be sure and check back for this tutorial….the possibilities are endless
There is a lot of dimension & added details to this.
I added white acrylic paint on the flowers here to tone down the pastel colors and outlined them with Perfect Pearls.
Ialso painted the Dusty Attic chipboard piece with white acrylic paint.
Here I used a brass stencil and some gel clear texture paste for a raised effect…then I highlighted it with some brown ink.
I love this photo!!! from left to right we have my bros-in-law, father-in-law, and my husband many years ago.
I heavily distressed this layout…used Walnut ink mist to make the paper look leathery and changed the color of the flowers in the Romance Add-On kit with my permanent Bic red marker.
Here are some up-close photos:
Be sure and check out the shoppe over at Scraps of Darkness too….full of some amazing embellishments…including a fantastic selection of Dusty Attic inticate chipboard pieces like the photo corner and frame as seen here.
I would like to preface this by saying that my husband came up with this title!
I used a prima bling flourish package (the clear backing) for my stitching template on this…just poked holes through the indentation were the bling was to mark my stitches on the paper. The intricate photo corners were made using one of my CTMH clear stamps. Title alphas were from American Crafts: Thickers and Cosmo Crickets miniature alphas. Also used here is Polymark’s shiny black dimensional paint. The Prima butterfly and vine as well as the Basic Grey rub-ons were in the kits.
I made the flower by using a Stampendous stamp…stamping it twice, once on the white paper and then again on a patterned paper…I then cut out the center of the petals and adhered them….cut some of my bead trim into small strips for my flower centers, then hot glued the gem to the center. Here are some up-close detailed photos:
Check out all the beautiful papers and elements in this gorgeous kit at Scraps of Darkness. TFL!
Here is the 1st layout I made using January’s kit from Scraps of Darkness, “WINTER MAGIC.”
Everything used for this was from January’s Scraps of Darkness “White Magic” kit except the title stickers from EK Success, and the bead trim. I used Walnut stain mist from Tsukineko on the paper & heat embossed the feather accents using CTMH white embossing powder & Zig’s embossing pen. I also did some paper pleating and fussy-cutting. Here are some up-close detailed photos:
This magical kit includes 6 of Pink Paislee’s double-sided Parisian Anthology special resist papers….the perfect papers for misting! I used Shimmerz -Vibez mist in Princess. Also included in this kit are 4 double-sided papers from the gorgeous Webster Pages Hollywod Vogue.
This is 1 of the 6 layouts I have completed using this amazing kit! Be sure to check back for more!
