This is a picture of the Halloween costume that I wanted my little misses to wear for this last Halloween…alas, it was not meant to be…I just couldn’t get her on board with it. And she just will not cooperate with wigs! LOL! and that is my favorite part!!!
The November kit is full of the gorgeous Garden Girl from Bo Bunny!
I used several Cricut cartridges to make this….the intricate die-cut design over the orange background was created with my Mother’s Day 2010 cartridge on “Fit to Page” setting. The flowers were created with the AMAZING “Flower Shoppe’ cartridge, and the font was made using the Hello Kitty font cartridge! I made a resolution to start using my Cricut…and I am loving it!
Here are some up-close photos:
Well….it is the 15th of the month again….and today marks the November reveal of Scraps of Darkness’ latest kit: PURPLE HAZE!
“Well she’s walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that’s running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That’s all she ever thinks about…
Riding with the wind.”
– Jimi Hendrix
And here are some of the projects I created with this dazzling kit:
Here are some detailed shots:
I created the title on my Cricut using the Hoot ’n’ Holler Cricut Lite cartridge.
My next layout is of a beautiful wintery photo my husband took while he was traveling in Germany several years back.
Next is the 3rd layout I created with this gorgeously colorful kit:
I used 3 different Cricut cartridges in creating this: Mother’s Day 2010, Elegant Edges, and Fancy Frames.
And lastly, here is the 4th layout I created using this AMAZING kit:
I used my EK Success Perfect Petal punch in a little bit of a different way.
TFL my friends! Stay tuned as I will be posting my next blog give-away this next Saturday (another Cricut Lite cartridge, or alternate prize if you don’t have a Cricut) and I will also be sharing more projects using this gorgeous kit soon!
Here is the canvas mixed-media piece that I created to hang on my front door:
This was created with the amazing Moxxie paper included in this months ALL HALLOWS EVE kit from www.scrapsofdarkness.com – I had to use 2 of the Moxxie papers Some Like It Haunt papers to stretch across my 11 x 14 canvas, and cut out individual tombstones from the Tomb It May Concern paper (how fun are these paper titles?! ) I mod podged the paper down…left some of the tombstones unglued to provide a little more dimension…outlined some of the lines in the bg trees and haunted house…used some stamps on the bg for dimension….title letters from the Girls Paperie and fences cut out with my Happy Haunting Cricut cartridge. I lined the sides with Maya Road rose trim, the top with some black lace and orange/black striped ribbon to hang the project from my stash…. the “Happy Haunting” lettering as well as the 2 corner flowers are from Pink Paislee’s Phantom banner kit that came in the Romance add-on for this month’s kit. Here are some up-close photos:
TFL~ Happy Halloween EVE!
Here is another layout that I created using the gorgeous Oct ALL HALLOWS EVE kit from www.scrapsofdarkness.com
This is my sweet baby Elizabeth at about 5 months old!
the paper embossed punched buttons are created with a Martha Stewart punch
the little butterfly is actually a magnet that I have had in my stash for some time
I used one of EK Success trim/border punches for the medallion accents around the circle….I cut each one of them apart…adhered them with a pop dot in the center…then covered the middle of them with small strips of ribbon.
above is a “flocked” rub-on from Prima that I have had in my stash FOREVER….it was really quite amazing if I do say so myself.
and for the “Fall” in my title I took one of my handy-dandy black permanent Bic markers to my pink Thickers.
And lastly, here is a shot of the masking/inking I created using on of my many Prima masks:
TFL! Happy Sunday!
I wanted to share the up-close photos of the first 4 layouts I created with Scraps of Darkness October “All Hallow’s Eve” kit, before I share my latest projects….so all together now..here we go:
first up is the LOVE layout…I created this for a friend…using her wedding invitation…. here are the up-close photos and details:
I layered one of the gorgeous hand-made butterflies that Renea aka Reneabouquets made for me in the last swap over at www.scrapsofdarkness.com over the large butterfly. Thank you Renea…those butterflies are truly dazzling!
Above you can see part of the hand-stitched flourishes I created on the page…I was going for a doodled/barbed-wire look for these flourishes. Below is another flourish up on the top right corner of the layout.
next we have the SoulLess layout which was created for the title challenge over at www.scrapsofdarkness.com – the challenge was to use SoulLess as the complete title…and when I found this image on the internet…well…it looked totally soul-less to me!
I double-printed the image so that I could tear out and curl up the edges of the eye…see below
This amazing Prima bat vine came in the Romance kit this month at www.scrapsofdarkness.com - and it was perfect for this.
I curled up the end of the Prima bat vine to create a “serpent” ! a detail that easily goes unnoticed…(exactly why I like to share the close-up details.
above you can see where I hand-stitched together two of the border die-cut punch-outs from the kit! and at the very, very bottom (and also at the very top) are the awesome “grunge” sticks that Mandy aka Craftysprinkles so generously made and sent to me! I thought they were PERFECT for this!
The next layout is: You’re A Star Saylor!
This amazing photo was taken by a family friend (she can be found on facebook under Tiffany Roberts Photography).
The stars were created with some of my acrylic Close To My Heart stamps. The gears and barbed wire chipboard pieces are from Dusty Attic and I acquired them through the Scraps of Darkness Shoppe.
and now for The Hanttula Matrix layout:
This is a photo of hubby and I – Halloween 2003. As “simple” as this layout may appear….simple layouts tend to take me the most time to complete….go figure. I used rub-ons, masking, inking and distressing, and of course STITCHING.
Thanks for taking a closer peek! I hope something here has inspired you to create! and stay tuned….I will be celebrating the 2nd anniversary of my blog …and plan on having another blog give-away….I will be giving away another Cricut cartridge….so if you have a Cricut and would like a chance to win….be sure and check back !
Happy Sunday my friend! and Happy Halloween EVE!
