Creating – What Have You Been Up To?

I’ll admit it.  Ever since I decided to temporarily “retire” from Design Teams (I was losing the “fun” out of creating with so many life stressors, my full-time job, raising small children that needed more attention – not to mention the insane amount of homework they pile onto kindergarteners and 2nd graders…and life just getting in the way) my posting and my creating has slowed WAY DOWN.  Not that I am not always creating in my mind…thinking of and planning new projects…..and now I run a ART CLASS at my work with my patients every week -( well actually I have been doing that for months now, but since I am always so laxed in posting new up-dates, how would any of my fellow peeps know that?)   So here is my latest up-date to all my latest creations:

Twisted Card Sketch #22 with the twist of “EDGE”

I have done the majority of the Twisted Card sketches over at www.twistedsketches.com – but I am behind on a few….I am trying to catch up on them in between projects.  Every Saturday a new card sketch is up-loaded….this is twisted sketches’ card sketch #22 and this “twist” was EDGE – any how or any way that inspires.  You can find the sketch for these cards HERE.  Ys, I was inspired to make 2 variations of this sketch.

With this card I was inspired by the EDGE  twist to use borders – all of the borders here were by Colorbok.  The alpha stickers are Basic Grey.  I used a piercing template from Hot Off the Press for the stitching, using Janlynn embroidery floss.  The cardstock card is from Paper Studio.

This 2nd card was made using DCWV’s Mariposa line…..how beautiful is this paper?!?  I cut out the shape from one of the papers, embroidered around the “edge” with Janlynn embroidery floss.  The ribbon was from my stash.  The clear sticker sentiment is from K & Co.  I also layered a brown border over the ribbon from Bazzill’s Just the EDGE. 🙂 TFL!

Twisted Card Sketch #17 with the “GLITTER” twist!

You don’t have to ask me twice to get out the glitter paper 🙂  Here is the last Twisted Card sketch (#17) with the GLITTER twist! I wish that photographs could show the true glitz and glitter that you see in real-life, but alas, that is never the case (sigh).

I used 6 layers of glitter paper for this card…all from Best Occasions.  I hand-made the 2 large flowers…using the glitter paper and the metallic paper (also from Best Occasions).  Glitter stickers used here for the sentiment are from EK Success.  Brads used here are from the Oriental Trading Co. (the black/white ones), and the glitter brads were found in the $1 section of Target! Long live Target 🙂  I will try and put a tutorial up later showing how these large flowers were made!

Twisted Card Sketch #16 with the “Metal” twist!

Here is card that I made using card sketch #16, with the METAL twist, over at www.twistedsketches.com ! You can find the sketch HERE.

I used some American Crafts and Cosmo Cricket paper here.  The grass and gingham scalloped border strips came from a paper pack found in the dollar section at Target. The car was cut out of some of my old Danny O’ paper.  I used a ProvoCraft stamp for the sentiment…circa font.  The little banner was cut from actual miniature star stickers…unknown brand.  The METAL key-hole is from Oriental Trading Co. and the little hinge/red brads are from Close to My Heart.  The white picket fence was in one of my Swirlydoo kits. Finally, the little bird on the limb sticker is from EK Success.

Twisted Card Sketch #15 with the “FRAME” twist!

Here is a card I made with the inspiration of a card sketch over at www.twistedsketches.com ! You can find a direct link to this sketch – sketch #15 – here.  The “twist” to this particular sketch was FRAME.   I think I covered the “twist” to this sketch rather nicely, if  I do say so myself….and adapted and simplified the sketch to fit my needs.

Supplies for this card include: paper from Webster’s Pages; chipboard frames from Making Memories; chipboard photo corners from K & Co.

Twisted Card Sketch #13 with the “twist” of FLOURISH

While I wait for my next Twisted Sketches layout assignment to go live this next Wednesday…I have been trying to get caught up on the Twisted Card sketches (a new Card Sketch is posted every Saturday.)  Twisted card sketch #13 has the “twist” of FLOURISH, any how or any way that word inspires you to create.  You can find the sketch to this card here.

Supplies used here include:  Paper from Scarlet Lime monthly kit club; flourish template from Hot Off the Press; Janlynn embroidery floss, Chatterbox “Fabulous” Chipboard words; Pink ribbon from Anna Griffin; Pom-Pom trim from my stash; K & Company’s Citrus die-cuts; Fabric Covered brads from the Paper Studio; brown butterfly die-cut from Crate Paper’s Mia collection; and green zig-zag trim from Oriental Trading Co.

TFL! Come on over to www.twistedsketches.com where you are sure to find a sketch and “twist” to suit your need for inspiration!

Twisted Card Sketch #14 with the “GOLD” twist!

Well, yesterday marked another Twisted Card sketch over at www.twistedsketches.com ! This week’s twist was GOLD, any how or any way that inspires you.  This was a HUGE challenge for me! I really am not a fan of GOLD, I’m more of a silver person.  I really was shocked that I was able to find as much GOLD “stuff” in my stash as I did.  Here is my interpretation:

I am very happy with how this turned out, being that I really found it a challenge.  It is a lot more sparkly in real life.

Supplies I used here include: Basic Grey’s Cappella/Pagentry paper (front and back sides); Prima Butterfly; Bic’s Mark It permanent marker in “Tiki Hut Tan” which I used to turn my Zva Pearl Adhesive flourish from white to GOLD; Inkadinkado’s Bird stamp -stamped in Colorbox’s GOLD pigment ink; Best Occasions adhesive metal GOLD dots; Janlynn’s Gold metallic floss, K & Company’s “All Occasion” vellum sticker quotables and Colorbox Chalk Ink in several shades of brown to ink the edges.

If you haven’t checked out this Sketch challenge site, they post a sketch for layouts every Wednesday, and a sketch for cards every Saturday.   The sketch for this particular card can be found here.

Here a few more up-close detailed photos:

Twisted Card Sketch #10 with the twist of “YELLOW”

Here is my interpretation of  Twisted Sketches Card Sketch #10 with the twist of “yellow.”  If you haven’t checked this awesome sketch site out before…you really need to visit www.twistedsketches.com .  And! if you want to try out to become a Twisted Sister Design Team member over at the Twisted Sketches site….Anam (the blog’s founder) has posted an open call!

Yellow enough for ya’? 🙂  I used scraps here…so I can only positively identify the Martha Stewart polka-dotted paper & my beloved “Howdy” paper from American Crafts.  I cut the little bird out of a sticker, stole a few feathers out of Lizzie’s boa, & cut small pieces of twine for my nest here.  I glued the little pieces of twine down, then secured them with some of my CTMH’s Liquid Glass.  I had a ton of fun making this card.  To see a psuedo-tutorial on how I made this card, check out my layout, “My Family”, here.  The various buttons are from my stash.  Did some hand-sewing.  and Voila! 🙂
